ILLUTHERM wants to solve a pressing problem of our time: to reduce the high CO2 emissions in industrial heating processes.
To achieve this, we have developed a groundbreaking method: heating with blue light. Our technology is based on the use of blue LED light, which is capable of heating many materials to over 1,000 degrees Celsius in just a few seconds.
This method opens up the possibility of rethinking heating from the ground up: moving away from fossil fuels and toward a digital, precise, and data-driven solution!
Rethink Heat.
Thanks to its compact design, an LED oven takes up very little space and requires only a fraction of the floor space of conventional systems.
Thanks to direct energy input—without a convection medium—an LED furnace achieves high heating rates and enables high production speeds.
The ability to turn the system on and off in a matter of seconds allows heat to be supplied only when it is needed. Furthermore, energy consumption remains constant regardless of production volume.
The ability to control the light source individually allows heat to be applied only where it is needed. This makes it possible to heat a workpiece locally.
Through precise temperature control, we lay the technological foundation for entirely new processes and products and enable data-driven monitoring of heat and energy requirements.
An LED furnace in production enables processes to be fully or partially electrified. By using renewable energy, industrial processes can be operated in a carbon-neutral manner.

„LED Light oven“ Project – Duration: April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2027
The aim of the project is the development of a novel LED light furnace that can fire ceramic materials within seconds — energy-efficiently and in a targeted manner. To this end, ILLUTHERM is developing a functional prototype including LED light source, material handling, and process control, in order to demonstrate the firing process for various ceramic materials under laboratory conditions. This project is co-funded by the European Union.
