Our story begins with a happy coincidence:

As part of his doctoral thesis, Lukas Porz was trying to change the properties of ceramics by heating them quickly. In doing so, he discovered that he obtains unchanged but flawless ceramics, but in a fraction of the time and with significantly less energy input.

The idea was born: intense blue light replaces the millennia-old furnace!

After some further development work, Lukas Porz founded the start-up ILLUTHERM with his fellow student Michael Scherer and industry veteran Miltiadis Vlachos in spring 2023.
